The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) adopted in 2009 was the first of the macro-regional strategies. This year the EUSBSR Annual Forum & Engagement Day will be held on 29-31 October in Visby in the island of Gotland, Sweden. The 600 participants will discuss issues of sustainability, resilience, and security structured around four elements: Engagement, Co-creation, Policy Dialogues and Networking Village.
European House Budapest will lead a group of youth participants from the Danube, Adriatic-Ionian and Alpine macro-regions. On 29 October together with the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) we will host a Workshop on Youth Participation discussing how meaningful participation of young people can be secured in the macro-regional strategies.
On 30 October from 16:30 European House Budapest will host a parallel session titled from Vision to Collaborative practice. The session aims to
- Confirm the readiness of civil society organisations (CSOs) together with other stakeholders to contribute creatively to repositioning and invigorating EU macro-regional strategies;
- Provide a forum for CSOs to exchange information and best practices leading to collaborative and innovative programmes across the macro-regions;
- Contribute to the elaboration of the 5th Report of the Commission on the implementation of MRS to be released at the beginning of 2025;
- Develop further an MRS civil society network.
Hope to see many of you in Visby.
