On 14 September, President Ursula von der Leyen will deliver her 2022 State of the Union address.
The State of the Union address is delivered to the European Parliament every year in September by the President of the European Commission.
The address takes a look at the achievements of the past year and presents the priorities for the coming year.
The 2022 State of the Union achievements are focused on four points:
- Europeans stand with Ukraine, for democracy and peace
- Overcoming the pandemic with solidarity and science
- Leading the green, digital and fair transitions
- The pillars of European democracy

Additionally, the President will also outline how the Commission will address the most pressing challenges facing the European Union and ideas for shaping the future of the EU.
The speech will be followed by a plenary debate with members of the European Parliament.
