Three major EU macro-regional strategy events will take place this autumn.

The 14th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) will be held in Riga on 4-5 October. The forum was given the title ‘Safe and Sustainable Baltic Sea Region for Future Generations’
which refers to the main objectives set by the organisers, such as the exchange of best practices
of cooperation, a stronger integration within the Baltic Sea Region and beyond, forming
synergies between various priority areas and creation of links between the Strategy and the
general public. The event will pay particular attention to discussing climate issues and green energy. And as young people are the key drivers of change and progress, the Forum will place a strong emphasis on the importance of involving young people in decision-making on the Strategy and ensure strong youth representation.

The 8th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) will be held on 19 October
in Bad Ragaz, Canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. The event will be an occasion to review the
Swiss Presidency of EUSALP in 2023 together with the political representatives of four guest
cantons and to discuss the new cross-cutting priorities jointly developed by the EUSALP action
groups. The priorities concentrate on digitalisation, energy transition, water management and
the circular economy. Extreme weather events, the energy crisis and the global competition
facing the Alpine region are daily reminders of just how crucial these issues are.

event will bring together high-level representatives from the European Union, national
governments, regional and local authorities, and other stakeholders to discuss the EUSDR’s
