Part-time internship in Brussels

Established in 1990, the European House (EH) is a Budapest-based pro-European civil society organisation. Its main objectives are the promotion of European cooperation by providing unbiased, actual, and up-to-date information to CSOs and citizens on EU-related issues, fostering the development of a European identity, and strengthening civil society, active citizenship and volunteering in Europe. In 2023 a key priority for EH is to actively participate in the the implementation of EU macro-regional strategies and enhance cooperation among CSOs and other stakeholders of the macro-regions.

European House is seeking a proactive, motivated Intern to be our Brussels-based representative. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Director with close cooperation of colleagues working on macro-regional policy areas.

The Intern will contribute to EH’s work in the following areas:

  • monitor policy developments in the field of EU macro-regional strategies;
  • contribute to the elaboration of policy documents on macro-regional strategies from a citizen’s perspective;
  • assist the development and consolidation of a civil network of macro-regions;
  • keep contacts with civil society organisations and other stakeholders in Brussels;
  • represent EH on Brussels-based events and programmes;
  • assist EH participation in the follow-up activities of the Conference on the Future of Europe;
  • follow preparations for the 2024 European Parliamentary elections;
  • contribute to the communication activities of EH;
  • other relevant tasks assigned by the EH Director.

Qualifications

  • University degree in political science, law, international relations, media and communication, project management or similar.
  • Sound command of English (ability to read, write and understand complex documents) is a must; knowledge of other languages is an asset.
  • Able to work effectively under time pressure and workload.
  • Ability to work independently while being an enthusiastic team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • Full IT proficiency (all current MS Office applications, internet).

The internship is a paid, half-time position for a period of 11 months between February-December 2023. Work permit for Belgium is required.

The internship is telework-based with regular meetings with the Director in Brussels.
